We cordially invite you to attend the upcoming AOM PDW on "Unbounding Bounded Rationality: Reimagining Cognition and Strategic Decision Making with AI in Firms" at the Academy of Management Annual Meeting 2026 in Philadelphia. Participation is open for the presentations and panel discussion, but pre-registration is required for the round table discussion.
Overview: Artificial intelligence (AI) tools such as large language models are rapidly integrated into organizational decision-making processes, yet management research has only begun to examine whether and how these tools augment bounded rationality and reshape organizational decision-making. This professional development workshop brings together leading scholars to examine (1) how existing cognition research can inform the effects of AI tools in organizational settings; (2) how decision-making processes are reshaped when AI is incorporated; (3) open questions and methodological approaches to advance this agenda; and (4) advice and cautions for PhD students and early-career scholars who aim to publish on the topic. The session will open with short presentations by Stefano Brusoni, Felipe Csaszar, Özgecan Koçak, Daniel Levinthal, and Sebastian Raisch, with Connie Helfat joining the speakers for the panel discussion.
In the second half of the workshop, participants will join themed roundtables based on short research summaries submitted in advance and will receive feedback on their ideas. The workshop is designed for scholars at all career stages who seek to develop strategy research on cognition and decision-making with AI in organizational settings.
