TENURE-TRACK POSITIONS IN STRATEGY
HARVARD BUSINESS SCHOOL: STRATEGY UNIT
************************************************
The Strategy Unit at Harvard Business School invites applications for tenure-track positions in strategy at the assistant and non-tenured associate professor levels. We seek outstanding candidates whose research focuses on core questions in strategy. Successful candidates should have a record of, or clear potential for, conducting influential research at the forefront of strategy scholarship.
Faculty in the Strategy Unit have backgrounds in strategy, economics (theory and empirical), and related fields. What brings the Unit together is an aspiration to be the world's leading developer and disseminator of knowledge relevant to business strategists. We offer a range of courses on topics including business unit strategy, corporate strategy, strategy and technology, innovation strategy, strategy implementation, and competitive interactions. The Unit also supports a doctoral program in strategy. With time, candidates are expected to become strong, effective teachers. We encourage faculty to develop elective courses closely tied to their research agendas and to exploit complementarities between research and course development.
Complete applications should be submitted by September 30, 2026, at 11:59 PM Eastern Time. A complete application includes a CV, cover letter, job market paper, research and teaching statements, as well as three letters of recommendation. We will review these applications on a rolling basis.
We will be considering candidates for interviews at the
Academy of Management Annual Meeting 2026. Candidates who would like to be considered for an AOM interview are encouraged to submit, at a minimum,
their CVs and a cover letter by July 17, 2026 through
Interfolio. A complete application is not required at this stage (we will focus on the CV and cover letter), and candidates will be able to update their materials before the final application deadline.
Submitting for an AOM interview is optional, and applications will not be penalized if a candidate decides not to pursue one.
