"CPA Idea Incubator: New Directions Across Borders and Levels"
Friday, July 25, 2025 9:00 – 11:30 at Bella Center Hall C, C3-m13
Sponsored by STR, Co-sponsored by OMT, OB, IM, ONE, and SIM
Dear colleagues,
We are excited to invite participants to our interactive PDW on Corporate Political Activity (CPA)-a dynamic and evolving area of research on firm–government interactions. This "idea incubator" is designed to highlight new directions in CPA, including:
· Tactics beyond lobbying and campaign contributions
· Intersections of CPA and CSR
· Political strategy across global and comparative contexts
· The micro-foundations of CPA, including individual practitioners
· The visibility, ethics, and societal consequences of CPA
· Navigating CPA in an era of geopolitical tension, nationalism and populism
The session features a panel of leading scholars, including Andrew Barron, Amy Hillman, Tazeeb Rajwani and Lori Qinyuan Yue, as well as an awesome line-up of discussants, including Moritz Appels, Aharon Cohen-Mohliver, Tony He, Zhao Li, Laura Olkkonen, Tim Werner and Dorothee Winkler, who will lead an idea workshop after the panel.
To help us in planning, please consider pre-registering by July 15, 2025. If you'd like, you can also submit an extended abstract (up to 1,500 words). Participants will be grouped into tables based on research interests and receive feedback from discussants.
