Católica Lisbon School of Business & Economics (CATÓLICA-LISBON) invites applications for a senior faculty position to reinforce its Strategy, Organizations & Entrepreneurship area, to start ideally on September 1, 2025. The position can be at Associate or Full Professor level.
We are looking for applicants with strong track record of high-level publications and demonstration of academic leadership, as well as impactful teaching. We are particularly, but not exclusively, interested in candidates doing research on topics such as Strategy, Leadership, Family Business, Sustainability, Innovation, Entrepreneurship, Organizational Behavior, and Business Ethics. Salary is internationally competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience. For outstanding senior candidates, a Chaired position may be considered. Faculty and Research Environment
CATÓLICA-LISBON provides a vibrant research environment. The core research faculty consists of close to 50 members, with doctorates from top North American (including Columbia, NYU, Stanford, Princeton) and top European (including INSEAD, LBS, City University of London, Ecole Polytechnique, and Tilburg) programs. Close to 40% of our faculty is international, including nationals of Brazil, Bolivia, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Mexico, Turkey and Ukraine.
The SOE area includes 12 career faculty, of which six are international and three are included in Stanford's list of the 2% more impactful scientists in the world. Its members span the sub-areas of Strategy, Organization Theory, Organizational Behavior, Entrepreneurship, Leadership, Sustainability, Innovation and Ethics. They have published articles in Academy of Management Journal, Academy of Management Review, Management Science, Organization Science, Journal of Organizational Behavior, Human Relations, Journal of Business Ethics, and Strategic Management Journal among others, and are members of the Editorial Boards of prominent journals. The CUBE research unit of CATÓLICA-LISBON received the highest rating for research excellence in Portugal of all social science units, including business schools, when evaluated by an international panel in 2014 and is currently the top management research unit in Portugal as evaluated by the 2019 panel.
Living in Lisbon
Lisbon has recently been ranked the safest capital city in Europe. It is a thriving cultural hub with a vibrant restaurant scene, diverse artistic activities and sporting events, good public transportation, a public healthcare system, historic architecture, among the best weather in Europe, and easy access to world-class beaches. It hosts the Web Summit every year and it has built one of the most thriving innovation ecosystems in Europe. Faculty members moving to Portugal are entitled to generous tax benefits for 10 years.
Position Requirements
Tenure-track and tenured faculty members are expected to maintain a research program targeted at top-tier journals in their field (ABS 4* and 4). CATÓLICA-LISBON provides them with ample support to do so. Salary is competitive, and funding for research-related activities, including travel to international conferences, is provided. In addition, faculty are supported to apply for research funding from the Portuguese Science Foundation (FCT) and other European funding agencies. Candidates should be motivated to engage students in the classroom. Tenure-track positions involve teaching the equivalent of 3 courses per year, in English, at the undergraduate, MSc and MBA levels, and potentially in executive education programs.
