    INVITATION TO CONTRIBUTE

We are pleased to invite contributions to The Elgar Companion to Artificial Intelligence and Sustainability, an upcoming volume with Edward Elgar Publishing. This book explores the intersection of artificial intelligence and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), bringing together leading scholars across disciplines to provide both conceptual and empirical insights.

    ABOUT THE BOOK

This book aims to bring together the developments of two megatrends:

    1. The increasing importance of digital technologies, specifically artificial intelligence (AI), and its influence on individuals, organizations, and society at large. AI and the rise of large language models (LLMs) such as ChatGPT, CoPilot, or Claude, are beginning to rapidly and fundamentally change business and society: From generating high-quality texts, to image and video creation, and data analytics. However, these advancements come with challenges, such as failure-prone systems, disruptions to labor markets that often disadvantage workers, and the significant increase in global energy consumption.

    2. Sustainability as articulated by the United Nations through 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and 169 detailed targets, representing an ambitious global commitment to tackling society's grand challenges. As we pass the halfway point of the SDGs and the related 2030 Agenda, it is imperative that we not only assess progress to date, but also commit to doing our best to achieve as many of the SDGs as possible.
