PEOPLE & RESEARCH. Our faculty members have a broad range of research interests from creativity, corporate governance, entrepreneurship, innovation, social networks, to cross-cultural management, judgment and decision making, conflict management, and many more. Our research expertise spans across both macro (organization theories, strategy) and micro (organizational behavior, human resources) areas. Our work constantly appear in top journals such as AMJ, AMR, JAP, SMJ, among others. Our research has been covered in both local and global media outlets, such as BBC, New York Times, to name a few. Our faculty members and PhD students are also quite diverse in terms of gender, race and nationality. https://mgmt-uat.hkust.edu.hk/people.PROGRAM STRUCTURE. The PhD program is a five-year program following a typical North American model. PhD students in our department get to take a variety of research seminars during the first two years of their study. Subject to satisfactory performance and passing a qualifying examination, they will then transit to thesis stage in which they closely work with their mentors to develop a high quality thesis in their chosen area and topic.
FINANCIAL SUPPORT. There are two types of financial support: Those admitted to the MPhil and PhD integrated program will have an annual stipend of ~USD27,700 (or ~HKD18,030/per month) for five years. The Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme (HKFPS) awardees will have an annual stipend ~USD41,690 (or ~HKD27,100/per month) for four years. All students will receive support for conference travel, software purchase and other miscellaneous items.
JOB PLACEMENT. Our graduates have received placement at different research universities worldwide. Our past placements include Chinese University of Hong Kong, ETH Zurich, Peking University, Tsinghua University, University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, University of Groningen, etc.
