Double the fun--and the learning! Two consecutive PDW's will focus on biometrics and neuromarketing tools including eye-tracking, facial coding, fMRI, and related technologies. The first PDW is designed to increase exposure to eye-tracking for management research in general. The second PDW will focus on the role of new methods and technologies in venture pitch research and teaching, including eye-tracking as well as other biometrics, pitch analysis, and venture databases.

    Session Part One:

Title: Eye-Tracking Methods for Management Research (#22012)

Time:  Saturday July 26 from 9:00 to 11:00

Location:  Bella Center, Hall B- B2-m4

This PDW is designed for participants with little or no prior experience in eye-tracking and will introduce them to the fundamentals of using this technology in management and organizational research. We will begin by outlining the rationale and opportunities for incorporating eye-tracking methodologies, followed by a hands-on overview of eye-tracker hardware, key technical properties, and methodological considerations for setting up studies. We will then move into an interactive roundtable session with expert panelists to explore emerging research applications in the field, address ethical and methodological issues in the review process, and discuss how ocular data can be integrated into theory-building and empirical research.

    Session Part Two:

Title:  New Methodologies in Entrepreneurship Pitch Research and Teaching (#17893)

Time:  Saturday July 26 from 11:15 to 12:45

    Location:  Belle Center, Hall A

The session will expose participants to new technologies for collecting physiologic measures including eye tracking, facial coding, galvanic skin response (GSR), public speaking and voice analysis, and other new tools. We will also introduce tools for collecting data on venture investment and analyzing pitch delivery. We will then move to an interactive session featuring leading pitch researchers sharing approaches to using these and other tools, as well as unique datasets and collection techniques. Finally, participants will personally interact with these technologies through demonstrations, and have smaller breakout group discussions with colleagues around research and teaching innovations.

Safe travels and we look forward to seeing you next week.
