The Organizational Design Community (ODC) invites you to the following webinar:
Organizational Design, Corporate Structure and Diversification
24th November 2022, Thursday at 9am Eastern Time
The recent Corporate Strategy research on Diversification has highlighted important heterogeneities and differences in how diversified companies are exploiting competitive advantages. This means that companies competing exactly in the same sectors and with the same Herfindhal index for their product portfolios could have quite different logics for value creation. Two main models emerge: Diversifiers with a logic of nurturing synergies from a common pool of resources and diversifiers with a real option logic which push for resource redeployment and internal market competition. We suspect that these two models imply different organization structures: different designs, processes, hierarchies and routines. Could you help us to open this black box? How do strategy and structure emerge and evolve? Is there an optimal fit?
