Distinguished Professor of Leadership

Position Summary:
The Mitchell College of Business at the University of South Alabama invites applications and nominations for a tenure-track, nine-month Distinguished Professor of Leadership. We seek a visionary leader who will bridge the gap between pioneering research and transformative practice, providing world-class academic leadership that influences the direction of the field.
Core Responsibilities:
- Scholarly Eminence: Maintain a record of exemplary intellectual accomplishments that influence the direction of the field. This includes publishing in top-tier journals and securing extramural funding.
- Pedagogical Leadership: Provide leadership training at a college-wide level, serving as a master teacher and advisor to undergraduate students.
- Instructional Excellence: Teach PhD-level courses often cross-listed across multiple departments to reach a broad segment of the university community.
- Mentorship: Serve as a "role model" and mentor for early-career faculty and graduate students, focusing on their professional development and leadership trajectory.
- Public Engagement: Deliver high-profile public lectures and engage with external networks to enhance the institution's reputation.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Ph.D. or terminal degree in a relevant field.
- Academic Rank: Must currently hold the rank of full Professor
- Extensive experience in leadership, academia, or a related field.
- Demonstrated leadership and organizational management experience.
- Experience in academic program development.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills with internal and external stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Evidence of "transformative" contributions to higher education leadership, documented through prestigious awards, fellowships, or seminal research.
- A deep understanding of higher education administration, including strategic planning, financial acumen, and change management.
- Ability to align departmental and college goals with the university's mission and navigate complex landscapes.
- Diplomacy and empathy required to communicate effectively across a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
