Overview: The Department of Management at California State University, San Bernardino (CSUSB) seeks a diverse group of outstanding applicants for an open-rank tenure track position in the area of Sustainability Management or a closely related field such as Business Ethics and Strategy starting from Fall 2023. Successful candidates will join a growing, dynamic department and be committed to teaching, scholarship, and student success. As a part of the AACSB accredited Jack H. Brown College of Business and Public Administration (JHBC), the Management Department has over 40 full-time and part-time faculty and staff serving more than 800 students in two (2) undergraduate programs (Management and Human Resource Management), at two campuses (San Bernardino and Palm Desert), and an MBA concentration. The department has a diversified faculty who are committed to high quality teaching, scholarly research and services.
California State University, San Bernardino (CSUSB) is located in San Bernardino, 60 miles east of Los Angeles. CSUSB (a Hispanic Serving Institution) serves approximately 20,000 students. CSUSB offers programs through the colleges of Arts and Letters, Business and Public Administration, Education, Natural Sciences, Social and Behavioral Sciences and operates a satellite campus in Palm Desert located in Coachella Valley. It offers 47 undergraduate, 35 graduate, and 1 doctoral degrees as well as 13 programs with national accreditation. Typical Activities: Expectations for the position include teaching classes related to Sustainability Management and another management discipline (ideally Business Ethics and/or Strategy) at both the undergraduate and graduate levels and significant participation in program development and leadership. Preferred candidates will be expected to meet the traditional requirements of excellence in teaching, active scholarly and professional work, and service to the University and community. Preferred candidates should have the experience and interest in leading the Principles of Responsible Management Education (PRME) program. Candidates must also have a strong interest and skills that enable them to participate in building curriculum, developing innovative academic and experiential programs, taking on leadership roles within the department, and developing and maintaining relationships with the local business community. It is also expected that the person filling this position will play an active role in maintaining student engagement, advisement of students in the Management concentration, and serving on department, college, and university-wide committees.
Minimum Qualifications: By the appointment date, candidates for the assistant professor position should possess an earned doctorate from an accredited institution in the area of Sustainability Management or a closely related field such as Business Ethics and Strategy. Candidates should demonstrate teaching potential with a diverse student body at the undergraduate and graduate levels with a minimum of one semester as an instructor. Candidates should have established scholarly accomplishments in alignment with AACSB Scholarly Academic (SA) standing, appropriate to rank.
Preferred Qualifications: Priority will be given to those candidates who (a) have an earned doctorate (by the time of the appointment) from an AACSB accredited institution in the area of Sustainability Management, or a closely related field such as Business Ethics and/or Strategy; (b) have significant prior professional or business experience in the field; (c) ability to teach Sustainability Management and other closely related management courses such as Business Ethics and/or Strategy ; (d) have demonstrated teaching excellence and evidence of strong publication record; and (e) have a history, aptitude, and desire to lead the PRME program.
Ideal candidates for the associate and full professor position should demonstrate a strong teaching and publication record as well as prior professional experience in the area of Sustainability Management and a closely related field such as Business Ethics and/or Strategy. Candidates should demonstrate both interest and experience in leading the PRME program.
