The Department of Management and Organisation at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam invites applications for a full-time Assistant Professor position of Entrepreneurship (tenure track) starting in 2023.
As an Assistant Professor, you'll be part of the Department of Management & Organisation within the School of Business and Economics at VU Amsterdam. At the department of Management & Organisation, we see research and teaching in a mutually supportive relationship. The Assistant Professor will enhance and contribute to the Department's teaching and research activities and be a member of the entrepreneurship section. The research program of this section focuses on core topics in the field of entrepreneurship such as the creation and growth of new firms and social enterprises, accelerators/incubators and other organizational sponsors, the psychological and cognitive underpinnings of entrepreneurship, corporate entrepreneurship and strategic renewal, and the dynamics of regional clusters and entrepreneurial ecosystems. Members of the group have published in important outlets such as Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice, Journal of Business Venturing, and Strategic Entrepreneurship Journal.
Requirements:
- Ph.D. in Management or a related field in the social sciences (completed or with a fixed date for the defense)
- fluent in English (knowledge of Dutch is not a requirement, but is considered a plus)
- prior publication experience in top management or entrepreneurship journals
- teaching experience (e.g., as a course instructor, thesis supervisor, etc.)
- a university teaching qualification (e.g., BKO) or commitment to obtaining it during the tenure track.
Candidates without a completed Ph.D. but who expect to finish in the near future are also encouraged to apply. So are current assistant professors with a few years of experience. They might complete the tenure track early.
What are we offering?
A challenging position in a socially involved organization. On a full-time basis, the remuneration amounts to a minimum gross monthly salary of €3,974 (scale 11) and a maximum €5,439 (scale 11), depending on your education and experience. Additionally, Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam offers excellent fringe benefits and various schemes and regulations to promote a good work/life balance, such as l a maximum of 41 days of annual leave based on full-time employment, an 8% holiday allowance, and an 8.3% end-of-year bonus. The initial employment contract as an assistant professor will be for a period of 6 years, with the possibility of obtaining a permanent position (tenure). The position involves research (50%) and teaching (50%). At the end of the second year, a performance evaluation will take place. In the fifth year, the Tenure Track Committee will review your file in order to decide upon the tenured assignment based on the assessment criteria of the Tenure Track system SBE.
