Postdoctoral Position:
Research Project on Entrepreneurial Decision-Making
DEPARTMENT: Entrepreneurship and Family Enterprise Area
LOCATION: Europe Campus, Middle East Campus, or remote
CONTRACT: Full Time
START DATE (Earliest): March 2023
START DATE (Latest): September 2023
Professor Chiara Spina seeks a full-time Postdoctoral Fellow to contribute to her research on entrepreneurial decision-making. This work covers various ways in which different individual characteristics and approaches to decision-making affect the formation and development of new organizational forms as well as key performance outcomes. Most of the projects in this area feature field experiments. As such, this is a unique opportunity to learn how to design and conduct similar studies and get a ring-side view of the process of developing a research program using this methodology. The Postdoctoral Fellow will be provided with a salary and a small personal research budget and will join the ongoing research of Prof. Spina and collaborators on the theme of entrepreneurial decision-making. Please see Prof. Spina's webpage for recently published and working papers on these topics.
The ideal candidate for this Postdoctoral Fellow will be a recent Ph.D. graduate or a doctoral candidate who is close (i.e., within a few months) to defending his/her dissertation with a deep interest in this domain. The main tasks will include taking on a "lab manager" role to coordinate ongoing field experimental work, as well as programming, data analyses, visualization, and synthesis of academic literature. The Postdoctoral Researcher is also likely to join as an author on projects (conditional on adequate contribution and satisfactory performance). The role also involves a proportion of time dedicated to publishing the researcher's own ongoing research projects. In addition, the Postdoctoral Fellow will have the opportunity to interact with the broader Faculty at INSEAD and participate in all the Entrepreneurship Department and school-wide research initiatives such as the brown bag series, research seminars, and conferences.
This is a two-year position, assuming academic achievement at a level at or above expectations, with a formal review after the first year.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Applicants must have completed or be close to completing (i.e., the dissertation defense will take place within a few months) a Ph.D. in Management or related social science discipline before the beginning of the fellowship. Prior work (including but not limited to dissertation) must involve working with large datasets and facility with computer programming. Prior experience with experiments (online or field) is preferred, but not essential.
- Excellent academic record and work ethic required.
- Excellent organizational and oral/written communication skills are required.
- Enthusiasm for research required. The ideal candidate will be thinking of this position as a platform to build skills toward taking on a research professorship in the future.
- Strong programming skills in Stata required.
APPLICATION:
To be considered for the position, please submit
- Curriculum vitae;
- A brief profile of your research program, including a description of datasets you have worked on and the status of current projects;
- Up to three published or working research papers; and
- Up to three letters of recommendation.
Applications and letters of recommendation may be submitted by email to research.talent@insead.edu. The review will begin immediately. Applications will be considered until the position is filled.
