Session 14886: How to Succeed in the PhD Admissions Process: A Consortium for Pre-Doctoral Students
A PDW for individuals applying to PhD programs in the next 1–2 years in the areas of Organizational Behavior, Human Resources, Strategy, and Entrepreneurship will be held IN PERSON at the Academy of Management Annual Meeting in Philadelphia, PA. The PDW is scheduled for Friday, July 31, 2026 from 1:15–5:15 PM EDT at the Philadelphia Marriott Downtown, Level 4: Franklin 9 (1201 Market St, Philadelphia).
The purpose of this professional development workshop (PDW) is to provide advice and information on how to navigate the PhD Admissions process, with a specific emphasis on:
1. A Career in Academia
2. Finding Your Research Fit
3. The Keys to a Successful Application, and
4. A Day in the Life of a PhD Student
Individuals applying to PhD programs in the next 1–2 years will benefit from this PDW by learning more about the admissions process through presentations, panel discussions, and round table discussions with current PhD coordinators, faculty, and PhD students across a variety of universities and research areas. Attendees will walk away with a greater understanding of a career in academia and the PhD admissions process, and will expand their network of peers and faculty to help them further navigate the application process.
