STR Dissertation Consortium: The Job Market and Beyond

    July 31, 2026 (8:00 am 5:00 pm – In-person Only)

    Application Deadline: June 1, 2026

[Note: Time is subject to AOM's scheduling approval and will be confirmed in Spring 2026]

The STR Dissertation Consortium is intended for those PhD students who are in the advanced stages of their programs and who are considering the job market during the 2026-2027 academic year (i.e., for faculty positions that begin in Fall 2027). The focus of the STR Dissertation Consortium will be on providing participating students with an opportunity to discuss their job market papers and 'elevator pitches' about their research identity in small groups with distinguished faculty and peers for high-quality, developmental feedback. We will also be using breakout groups during coffee breaks to facilitate student networking.

The co-chairs of the 2026 Dissertation Consortium are Vera Rocha (Copenhagen Business School) and Simone Santamaria (National University of Singapore). The faculty panel includes (in alphabetic order by surname): Heather Berry (Georgetown University), Sinziana Dorobantu (NYU), Sukhun Kang (University of California Santa Barbara), Rebecca Karp (Harvard Business School), Aseem Kaul (University of Minnesota, Carlson School of Management), Mahka Moeen (University of Wisconsin-Madison), Leandro Nardi (HEC Paris), Sebastian Raisch (University of Geneva), Florenta Teodoris (University of Southern California), and Yanbo Wang (University of Honk Kong).

Priority for admission to the 2026 Dissertation Consortium will be given to students who: (1) have completed drafts of their job market papers, and (2) have not previously attended the STR Doctoral Consortium. However, any doctoral student who is considering entering the job market and graduate during the 2026-2027 academic year (and who is not applying to the 2026 Doctoral Consortium) may apply. We intend to cover how to maneuver the challenges and considerations of the job market, crafting your elevator pitch, and also focus on providing developmental feedback for the publication process on student job market papers.

Interested students should apply via the application website (link below) no later than June 1, 2026. All applicants will be notified of admission decisions by the end of June 2026.

The application website will request the following information:

    1. Nomination Letter: Upload your nomination letter. Have your dissertation chair write a nomination letter (on letterhead). The letter should verify that you are considering entering the job market and will graduate during the 2025-2026 academic year. Your supervisor can provide you the letter to upload or you can provide them the link and they can upload it themselves.
    2. Curriculum Vitae: Upload your current CV as a PDF (only). Please name the file as follows: LastName-FirstName-CV.pdf
    3. Job Market Paper: Upload the current version of your job market paper. Please upload as a PDF (only). Please name the file as follows: LastName-FirstName-Paper.pdf.

We have a limited number of travel scholarships available to cover some of the costs of attending the conference. More information to come closer to the time.

If you have questions about the Dissertation Consortium, please contact one of the co-chairs, Vera Rocha (vr.si@cbs.dk) or Simone Santamaria (bizsim@nus.edu.sg).

Which STR consortium is right for you?

(Important note: Students are typically allowed to attend only one consortium during their PhD program, barring special circumstances)
