    STR Walk

    Saturday, August 10 at 2:30PM to 4:30PM

Renaissance Hotel (1 W Wacker Dr, Chicago, IL 60601) at the corner of State St. and Wacker Dr.

Alright, STR. Some of us don't run. Why? Because. There. Is. Nothing. Chasing. Us. Except research and teaching deadlines, of course. For that reason, we are organizing an STR Walk. Join us for a two-hour leisurely stroll by the Chicago River, a hustling and bustling hub of trade and commerce since the late 1700's. If you'd like to get a guided tour of the magnificent history of the magnificent city with the Magnificent Mile, while you 'ooh', 'aah' and 'ugh' over all its architectural gems and artifacts of conspicuous consumption in the lovely shops along the way.

This event is open to every member of the STR division, as well as family and friends. Families and friends must also be registered. You can list your family and friends when you register. We'd also like to extend a special invitation to all scholar-practitioners (got a PhD in strategy/entrepreneurship AND works in industry) to join us in this inaugural walkRunners. Also. Welcome.

    STR Beers at the Pier

    Saturday, August 10th, 4:30PM to 6:30PM CT

Meet at Sheraton Lobby at 4:30PM or Navy Pier Beer Garden at 5:30PM

Join us for a fun-filled Saturday evening starting at the Sheraton lobby at 4:30 PM! We'll stroll along Navy Pier, grabbing drinks, ice cream, and snacks along the way. The Navy Pier allows open alcoholic containers (purchased on-site), so we'll make stops to grab refreshments to carry with us until we end at the Beer Garden from 5:30-6:30 PM. Can't make it for the walk? No worries, meet us at the Beer Garden at the end of the pier at 5:30 PM. Cheers!

    No registration required.

    AOM Soccer Cup

    Sunday, August 11th, 8:00AM to 10:00AM CT

UIC Turf Field West (1435 W 14th St)

We are pleased to announce this year's AOM Soccer Cup!

The III AOM Soccer Cup will take place on Sunday August 11th, 2024. The game will be from 8am to 10am (Chicago time), and folks will be done early enough to reach AOM events that start at 10:30am. This year's Cup is free of charge, thanks to the generous sponsorship from STR Membership Engagement Committee (special thanks to Carlos Inoue and Andy Wu), TIM division (special thanks to Jermain Kaminski and Llewellyn Thomas), as well as the field sponsor University of Illinois Chicago (special thanks to Felipe Calvano for mediating the contact).

The location is UIC Turf Field West. Those who can stay after the game will have a no-host post-game brunch nearby (where we'll toast the contributions of the recently retired organizing committee and Cup founder Andrea Contigiani!).

The AOM Soccer Cup is a gender-neutral event! Whether you want to play or just spectate with other soccer aficionados, please join us. We are looking forward to meeting you there! Please sign up HERE so we can have a headcount.

The winning team will take custodianship of the invaluable AOM Cup until next year.
