One of the most distinctive features of philosophy is its systematic and critical approach to the assumptions, beliefs, and values we typically accept-and take for granted-in various areas of life. In this webinar, I will discuss how philosophy provides resources that not only help us break free from the multitude of preconceived concepts, perspectives, and methodologies shaping our understanding of organizational phenomena, but also enable us to think differently about these phenomena, thereby leading to more original and impactful research.

About the speaker
Jorgen Sandberg is Professor in Management and Organization in the University of Queensland Business School in Australia, and Distinguished Research Environment Professor in Organization Studies at the Warwick Business School, UK. His main research interests include competence and learning in organizations; research methodology; practice theory; theory development; and philosophy of science. He has published extensively, including Academy of Management Review, Academy of Management Journal, Journal of Management Studies, as well as several books, including the second edition of Constructing Research Questions: Doing Interesting Research (with Alvesson, Sage, 2024), and Re-imagining the Research Process: Conventional and Alternative Metaphors (with Alvesson, Sage, 2022). He co-convenes the PHILOS annual colloquium.
