This session is divided into two parts. Part One is a paper-development workshop focused on helping doctoral students and junior scholars develop their paper ideas by receiving peer feedback and feedback from IG mentors. Application & preregistration is required for Part One.
Part Two consists of a creative activity where participants form into several 'teams' and are charged with developing a paper idea in 50 minutes based on a set of theoretical and empirical "ingredients". The teams will develop a basic theoretical framing and hypotheses with corresponding figures to depict the model and will propose with what data and how the hypotheses will be tested. The teams will then present their ideas to a panel of scholars who will offer their insights. The teams will also get real-time feedback on their ideas from other participants through mobile-based poll technology. Part Two will conclude with the panel and participants making observations about different approaches to paper idea generation.
All participants in Part One are invited to participate in Part Two, and those wishing to join Part Two do not need to participate in Part One.
