  • STR Announcements: February Events and Reminder to Review

    STR Members,

The STR Division completed several virtual events in January (with another January event on the 31st regarding research on resources and capabilities) and is sponsoring several additional Virtual Events in February. An overview of our February events is below. Future events are on the STR calendar and recordings of past events are available on our YouTube and BiliBili channels as well as in podcast form for those unable to attend the events.

Please remember to complete your reviews for the annual conference! Your reviews help ensure we can develop a dynamic and interesting conference.

    Wednesday, February 22, 2023 (12:00 to 13:30 Eastern):

    • STR Virtual Symposium: Knowledge and Innovation Research

This symposium features research about knowledge and innovation strategies at the individual, platform, industry, and regional levels of analysis. The focus of the discussion will be on how this research interacts with central topics in strategic management. Although strategy research primarily seeks to understand firm heterogeneity, many scholars focus on other levels of analysis for shedding light on firm-level dynamics.

Michaël Bikard (INSEAD), Tobias Kretschmer (LMU Munich), Mahka Moeen (U of North Carolina), and Myles Shaver (U of Minnesota) will reflect on what we know about innovation at the individual, platform, industry, and regional levels of analysis, how existing research sheds light on canonical strategic management questions, and what research gaps exist to better link to firm-level strategic management issues.

The session will be moderated by Elena Plaksenkova (Ohio State U).

Our thanks to STR EC member Mahka Moeen (U of North Carolina) for organizing the session.

To stay informed of these and future events, please visit the STR calendar on the STR homepage, and/or any of our STR social media accounts.
