We would like to invite you to the Symposium "Dynamic Capabilities: Capabilities to Terminate" (session 1228) on Monday, August 8, 10:30 AM-12:00 PM PDT (1:30-3:00 PM EDT).

This symposium aims to advance dynamic capabilities research by highlighting the nascent yet growing body of research on termination capability. The diffuse body of work on termination capabilities spans disparate topics such as exits, divestitures, failure, redeployment, termination, and abandonment. We bring together five researchers whose work highlights (1) antecedents of firm termination capabilities and (2) their importance to firm performance (3) in a variety of theoretical empirical contexts, spanning VC investments, acquisition (dis)synergies, private equity firms in markets for corporate assets, and managerial prosocial preferences that impede layoffs.

    The panel will feature:

    • Isin Guler (UNC)
    • Paul Nary (Wharton)
    • Arkadiy Sakhartov (UIUC)
    • Daniel Keum (Columbia)
    • J.P. Eggers (NYU)

You can join us in-person at the Seattle Convention center (SCC), Tahoma 1 or online at https://2022.aom.org/meetings/virtual/wTzW7K6aC6LQMo2mo
