STR Dissertation Consortium: The Job Market and Beyond Monday and Tuesday, July 31 and August 1, 2023 (8:30 am - 12:30 pm EDT - Virtual)
Application Deadline: June 15, 2023
The STR Dissertation Consortium is intended for those PhD students who are in the advanced stages of their programs and who are considering the job market during the 2023-2024 academic year (i.e., for faculty positions that begin in Fall 2024). The focus of the STR Dissertation Consortium will be on providing participating students with an opportunity to discuss their job market papers and 'elevator pitches' about their research identity in small groups with distinguished faculty and peers for high-quality, developmental feedback. We will also be using breakout groups during coffee breaks to facilitate student networking.
The co-chairs of the 2023 Dissertation Consortium are Hyunjin Kim (Insead) and Victor Bennett (University of Utah). The faculty panel includes (by last name in alphabetic order): Ron Adner (Dartmouth), Elisa Alvarez-Garrido (University of South Carolina), Annamaria Conti (IE Business School), Rebecca Karp (Harvard Business School), Narae Lee (Singapore Management University), Mary-Hunter (Mae) McDonnell (Wharton), Stefan Meier (Columbia Business School), Amandine Ody- Brasier (McGill University), Susan Perkins (University of Illinois Chicago), Tim Quigley (University of Georgia), Joost Rietveld (University College London), Kulwant Singh (National University of Singapore)
Priority for admission to the 2023 Dissertation Consortium will be given to students who: (1) have completed drafts of their job market papers, and (2) have not previously attended the STR Doctoral Consortium. However, any doctoral student who is considering entering the job market and graduate during the 2023-2024 academic year (and who is not applying to the 2023 Doctoral Consortium) may apply. Weintendtocoverhowtomaneuverthechallengesandconsiderationsofthejobmarket, crafting your elevator pitch, and also focus on providing developmental feedback for the publication process on student job market papers.
Interested students should apply via the application website (link below) no later than June 15th, 2023. All applicants will be notified of admission decisions by the end of June 2023.
