Please allow me to remind you of the upcoming deadline for the 57th HICSS and our minitrack:
Join the Conversation on Data-Driven Services and Servitization in Manufacturing!
See you in Honolulu at the Hawaii International Conference on System Sciences (HICSS) in the first week of 2024 (January 3-6). A conference rich in tradition and quality. Affiliated with the AIS it is the longest-standing working scientific conferences in Information Technology Management.
The Minitrack is themed:
DATA-DRIVEN SERVICES AND SERVITIZATION IN MANUFACTURING: INNOVATION, ENGINEERING, TRANSFORMATION, AND MANAGEMENT
Manufacturing is a mainstay of the global economy, which is increasingly confronted with (digital) servitization. This trend is a topic at the intersection of digitalization and growing sustainability demands. Advanced digital technologies are permeating capital-intensive complex products (e.g., tooling machines) as well as their integrated components (e.g., drives). This enables them to be globally networked and to provide intelligent functions linking the digital and physical world. As boundary objects in complex service systems they improve service efficiency, enable sustainable life cycle considerations, and drive service innovation. Companies attempt to benefit from these developments by means of data-driven services and product-service-systems. These kinds of service systems differ strongly from the established businesses in manufacturing – from the service businesses as well as the product businesses. They, hence, prove to be a socio-technical challenge, i.e., humans, organizations, and technologies must be considered integratively. Manufacturing companies need well-grounded strategic guidance, models, and methods to design and implement data-driven service systems. Recognizing these challenges, this minitrack aims to explore insights on multiple facets of service systems in manufacturing.
Topics may span conceptual, empirical, design science, applied, and theoretical research. Hereby any research methodology (reviews, qualitative, quantitative, mixed methods, etc.) on any level of analysis is welcome. Typical themes that are expected for contributions to the minitrack include (but are not limited to):
