    Assistant Professor, Sustainable Finance and/or ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance)

    The School of Environment, Enterprise and Development (SEED), University of Waterloo, invites applications for a tenure-track position with expertise in the fields of sustainable finance and corporate ESG policies and practice. This position will be filled at the rank of Assistant Professor. The successful candidate will have a PhD in finance, economics, management or in a related field and may not have all their degrees from the same traditional discipline. The closing date for applications is October 1, 2023. The preferred start date is July 1, 2024.

    Preferred candidates will have research expertise and demonstrated teaching excellence in one or more of the following areas: sustainable or climate finance; responsible or impact investing; corporate ESG policies and practices; or public policy expertise in ESG or sustainable finance. We are particularly interested in applicants whose teaching and research focuses on the social dimensions of sustainable finance or ESG. The position will primarily support teaching and research activities in SEED's Sustainability and Financial Management, Environment and Business, and Sustainability Management programs.

    Founded in 2009, SEED, located in the Faculty of Environment, has quickly established itself as a recognized leader in integrated approaches for sustainable solutions to the world's most pressing environmental, social and development challenges. SEED offers comprehensive and highly inter-disciplinary professional programs, at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, in sustainable business and development, with degrees in environment and business, sustainability management, international development, and local economic development. SEED offers two undergraduate programs (Environment & Business, International Development), one joint undergraduate program (Sustainability and Financial Management with the School of Accounting and Finance) and four graduate programs (Environment & Business, Sustainability Management, Economic Development and Innovation, and Development Practice). We have both Master's and PhD programs in Sustainability Management. SEED has a current enrolment of approximately 1,000 undergraduate and graduate students and is experiencing further growth. The School is adding faculty members, developing new programs and growing research capacities. SEED is located in a 57,000 sq. ft. LEED© Platinum building with classrooms, student space and offices.
